Our club was established in 1989. A not for profit organisation we offer an inclusive environment for all members of the local community. Our approximately 200 members come from varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds; span the full age spectrum and represent beginners to experts. We offer community tennis programs for Retirees, Mums With Babes, Schools and the local Fire Brigade.
To provide these facilities we require funding which we raise through annual dues, night tennis fees and drink sales through our licenced bar. All funds are reinvested into the club to maintain top quality facilities and to finance the running of the club. Any annual surplus is accumulated to fund expensive tennis court upgrades and refurbishments.
The Serpell Tennis Club offers an active environment for tennis players of all abilities. With six "all-weather", flood lit courts and a clubhouse for spectators, it is the perfect place for beginners, established or advanced players of all ages. The club offers many different levels of competition in which to play. Singles and doubles for seniors and juniors are available at all skill levels. We also offer an intra-club competition for those who enjoy the social aspects of the game. Social tennis is available on several days.If you need to improve your game, then coaching is available through our resident coach, Paul Baldwin. Group and private lessons are available at very affordable prices and can be arranged directly with Paul. But the best way to improve your game is to play frequently. The club has a very active membership with teams playing in the Eastern Region Tennis Association competitions on Saturdays and Sundays in both junior and senior sections. We also have teams playing in the mid week Blackburn and Districts Night Tennis competitions. Mid-Week ladies teams compete in a variety of competitions.
